Speech-Language Pathologist

 

Sierra C. Downs, MA CCC-SLP is a trained vocalist, ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist, and multi-ACE recipient with a knack for absorbing and translating science into meaningful, accessible practice.

Sierra earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Boston University - Sargent College, completed a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from the George Washington University - Columbian College, and is President-elect for the Vermont Speech and Hearing Association. Sierra is a member of both the World Professional Association for Transgender Health and the Voice Foundation, and is actively pursuing Board Certification in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders through extensive training, mentorship, and experience in the field of dysphagia.

Sierra is a fierce advocate for clients, patients, and their caregivers - and is energized by supporting fellow colleagues and local community members. As a proud queer and nonbinary person, Sierra is deeply committed to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community by maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

 

Outside of professional work, Sierra finds joy in creating/performing music, running, writing, and exploring local “churches” (that is, the Adirondack and Appalachian Mountains).

Despite having been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, Kathleen was able to live out a full life alongside her husband, Merle, and dedicated caregivers. Kathleen passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2020.

Her favorite flower was the gardenia.
